5/27/2023 0 Comments Handsfree linkAll with the latest software, and we have a 2017, 2013, and 2012 Hyundai and everything works perfectly with any of the phones in any of the vehicles. I have an iPhone 7, my wife and iPhone 5s, and my daughter an iPhone 6. No one that I know has had trouble with their devices. In any event, there you have it-the latest in my HandsfreeLink/Apple saga. I don't have ready access to an Android but I do plan to try this test in the future.Īlso, FYI: my wife drives a brand new 2017 Honda Pilot and has an iPhone 6s and has been having multiple issues since the recent Apple updates (transfer, Private Mode, echo, etc). They also suggested I pair an Android phone to my car's system to prove it to myself that it is the Apple iPhone. They advised that there is nothing they can do about it other than log the calls/complaints they have been receiving, including calls since the latest Apple update-where calls are not only automatically going to Private Mode, they are now not "transferring" back to the cars audio system now until the other party answers (which you can't hear because the call is in Private Mode, causing you to have to pick up the phone and, in my area, risk getting a $200 ticket) or, the calls don't "transfer" at all-despite repeated pushing of the "transfer button". They advised, "We have spoken to Apple engineers and it (Private Mode) is a feature that they have put in their software". I also called Honda Handsfree Link again and they reiterated that it was an Apple issue. I did go ahead and try the steps you suggested, as I did a few months ago when the problems first started, no help. They should release updates to their software. This is an issue with the vehicle manufacturer and their system. I know that Subaru vehicles have issues with pairing via the radio system itself, and you have to do it with the steering wheel controls to get it to work. ![]() While you may find issues with other vehicles. That should correct it, since I've not seen this issue mentioned very much here at all. Then pair the phone and vehicle again and see what happens. It may require you to forget the vehicle in the iPhone's Bluetooth area, and then power off the phone. Now, I'm not sure if your use of Siri is creating part of the problem and the vehicle cannot understand those controls, but try that change. If you go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Scroll down to Call Audio Routing, and see what the setting is. I realize that yours are doing it automatically and you are experiencing an issue. My calls can go to private if necessary, and there is a control button on the vehicle screen to do that. I read your post and understand what you said about the calls automatically going to private. If you're still with me: A) Thanks for reading/listening, B) Please provide any help/suggestions you may have. I suppose Honda is going to blame Apple and Apple is going to blame Honda which does me no good whatsoever.Īll I know is this: A) I believe I drive the most popular car (Honda Accord) and use the most popular phone (iPhone 7) in America and someone, somehow should be able to figure out how to get these two things to work together again! B) Currently, it would be safer to duct tape my iPhone to my forehead, over my eyes and dial out with my nose than to use my Apple iphone and Honda's handsfreelink system. I have done basic Google research on this issue, and paired/repaired my phone with the car, etc, etc. The initial problems that started a few months ago, occurred right after an Apple update the latest set of additional problems also seems to be in conjunction with another recent Apple update. ![]() In addition, I'm also getting echo feedback now in the last couple of days. ![]() Now, the same problem occurs but the calls either: A) won't "transfer" until after the other party answers (which I can't hear because the call has automatically gone to "private mode") or B) they won't "transfer" at all or. So, a few months ago, the first problem that starting occurring on a regular basis was the calls would switch to "private mode" and I would then have to hit "transfer" to get the calls to go back to the audio system in the vehicle. Much easier to place calls this way vs using Honda's myriad of button and/or voice command screens to get an outgoing call placed. And then all heck broke loose!įirst, FYI: I dial calls via Siri (pushing the home button on my phone) and talking through the car's system to place outgoing calls. Until a few months ago, I used both my iPhone and my newer model Honda's Bluetooth system (Handsfreelink) just fine, we we're in a lovely "relationship", communicating wonderfully on a daily basis. I have had an iPhone for years, and driven Hondas-for years.
